This week, there was a controversial post up about homeschooling moms being oppressed and unpaid labor and blah, blah, blah, so I thought I would make a list of why my job is better than my husband’s.
I’ll start with five:
1. I get to blog/surf whenever I want.
His IT Department blocked all sites marked “entertainment” and all sites from leading blog hosts, among other fun sites.
2. I get to tell other people what to do all day.
He gets to be told what to do all day.
3. I get to sleep until he has to leave, if I want.
He has to get up at 6:30 every morning. (Okay, only when he actually wants to be on time for work.)
4. I get a home-cooked lunch every day.
He eats PB&J 3-5 times a week.
5. I get to pursue new hobbies and learn cool new things.
He gets to spend all day at work, then come home exhausted to children who want to take up what little time he has left because they haven’t seen him all day.
At which time, I get some time to myself, if I want. Something he has very little of.
Unless you count sitting in his cubicle all day.
I’ll take my unpaid oppression any day.
Your job is a lot harder, and a lot better than Bob’s.
