Help!
A few months ago, a long-time resident moved out of the apartment downstairs from me and someone new moved in. She smokes and, unless I close all of my windows, it comes into my apartment. And it often, too often, triggers a migraine.
I just don’t know how to deal with this. She has a right to smoke, but I am in agony here. I just don’t know what to do.
Keeping my windows closed is sort of an option, now that it is getting colder, but having the place shut up all of the time causes its own problems. (This place is very damp and mold-prone.)
Any ideas?
No, besides moving. (I’m already working on that.)

This is my nightmare! The guy next door used to smoke and I couldn’t open my bedroom window at night. That sucked! He’s gone and now a non-smoker lives there. I’m seriously considering calling the owner and asking them to only consider non-smokers. Sorry. Let’s hope she moves soon.

I am so sorry to read this. You might try talking with the new tenant and see if they can curb their smoking habit… or talk with the land lord. Maybe they have another apartment in another building that doesn’t have a smoking problem. Or maybe one of those air purifiers… maybe the land lord can buy one for your apartment. You could say it is not livable with the smoke.
