Everyone loves chocolate on Valentine’s Day (or any day), so why not make your sweetheart some Valentine’s Day fudge?
For this project, I used the simple fudge recipe from verybestbaking.com, the makers of Carnation evaporated milk and Nestle Toll House semi-sweet morsels, but you can use any fudge recipe.

After you finish cooking your fudge, pour it into a pan, as usual, and let it set. When it is finished, use heart-shaped cookie cutters to cut your fudge into hearts. This works best if you use metal cookie cutters. You might also want to pour the fudge into a bigger pan than the recipe calls for, so the finished product is thinner and easier to cut. (Don’t ask how I know that.)
You can present your fudge in cupcake/candy papers. If you use a small cookie cutter, as I did, you can either present them singly in a small paper or place a few in a larger paper. Or you can use a larger cutter and put the individual pieces in a large paper.

Another option is to pour the fudge directly into the mini cupcake papers. Be sure to put them into a mimi muffin pan, so that they hold their shape.
I decorated the tops of mine with walnut pieces. I also made one with a red hot candy because that is what I had on hand, but you could also use conversation hearts or other Valentine’s Day theme candy.
Placing the finished fudge into another paper created a nice layered effect.

One other method that combines these two is to pour your fudge into a heart-shaped silicone muffin pan, either large or mini. Then just pop them out and you have already made fudge hearts, with less hassle. I would love to try that, but I already used mine for soap making.
These would look adorable given in one of the Valentine’s boxes at The Toymaker.
If you have never visited, that site is wonderful. Marilyn shares loads of lovely, whimsical paper toys, boxes, and cards that you can print out and make for all occasions.
Valentines at their finest. Beautiful photos.
Thank you!
